Pediatric Home Visits for Urgent Care

When your child is sick or injured, the last thing you want is a long wait in an urgent care or emergency room. Dr. Abby Siegel offers pediatric home visits for select urgent care needs, providing high-quality medical care in the comfort and safety of your home.

These visits are designed to support families who want convenient, thoughtful, and individualized care, without the stress of traveling when a child isn’t feeling well.

What is a Pediatric Home Visit?

A pediatric home visit is an in-person medical evaluation performed in your home for non-life-threatening urgent concerns. Dr. Abby brings the expertise of a board-certified pediatrician directly to your family, allowing more time, attention, and calm than a typical clinic visit.

This service is offered on a fee-for-service basis and is not billed to insurance. See below for more about fees and scheduling.

Common Reasons for a Home Visit

Pediatric home visits may be appropriate for concerns such as:

  • Fever

  • Ear pain or suspected ear infections

  • Sore throat

  • Cough, cold, or flu-like symptoms

  • Vomiting or diarrhea (without signs of severe dehydration)

  • Rashes or skin concerns

  • Mild asthma symptoms or wheezing

  • Urinary symptoms

  • Minor injuries

  • General illness when a child needs to be seen but does not require emergency care

If you're unsure whether a home visit is appropriate, Dr. Abby is happy to discuss your child's symptoms before scheduling.

What to Expect During the Visit

During a home visit, Dr. Abby will:

  • Take a thorough history and perform a focused physical exam

  • Assess your child's symptoms and overall well-being

  • Provide diagnosis and treatment recommendations

  • Prescribe medications when appropriate

  • Offer guidance on home care and next steps

  • Advise when further evaluation or higher-level care is needed

Visits are intentionally unrushed, allowing time for questions and clear communication.

What this Service is Not

Pediatric home visits are not a substitute for emergency care. Please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department for:

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Blue or gray lips or skin

  • Unresponsiveness or seizures

  • Severe trauma or bleeding

  • Signs of severe dehydration

  • Any life-threatening emergency

Fees and Payment

  • Pediatric home visits are provided on a private pay, fee-for-service basis

  • Payment is due at the time of the visit - an invoice will be sent by e-mail at the conclusion of the visit. Payment will be accepted by credit or debit card or personal check.

  • Insurance is not billed, but a receipt can be provided for possible reimbursement depending on your plan. It is the client's responsibility to submit the claim.

  • Specific fees and service areas can be discussed when scheduling. Dr. Abby typically services northern Westchester County and some areas of Connecticut.

Why Families Choose Home Visits

  • No waiting rooms or exposure to other illnesses

  • Care delivered in a familiar, low-stress environment

  • More time and attention than a typical urgent care visit to a clinic

  • Direct access to an experienced pediatric physician

  • Personalized, family-centered care by a board-certified pediatrician, licensed in New York and Connecticut.
